Not such a disappointment afterall.....
Hardcore Indie fans be warned....this is not a ressurrection of the special effects bonanza of the 80s & 90s that made the original Indie films classics. However, if you are looking for something a little different to perhaps compare with the wow-factor of The Mummy franchise then you will indeed be pleasantly surprised. Granted the CGI effects are over-zealous but the script really isn't all that bad, although I feel it doesn't really do much justice to the return of Marion, Indie's "one true love". Overall, I would genuinely recommend this film to anyone who believes your own opinion is the only opinion you should listen to and it is much better to come to something new and unknown with an open mind. Enjoy!
not so sure about this one...
i am a big fan of the indiana series... when this one came out i had to see it straight away... although i was concerned about the age of Harrison Ford, when i saw the film i paid no attention to his age and my love for the character stayed the same. However, the plot was very weak and i felt that the idea of aliens and the very end scene were just too much, yes this is a fantasy film but it should not turn sci-fi! Also, i wanted to see more character from Marion... i don't know what it was about her but she just didn't seem the same from the old film... i missed that about her.
However... the action sequences in this film were brilliant, just as good as the older films and i don't care that they used so much CGI... if they didn't then it would never be able to compare to other films out today and i don't think it spoiled it at all =] part from the end of course...
All the same i do reccomend watching this film =] it is a must see
Great Movie!
Well it must be said that this isn't exactly the best Indianna Jones film, and the monkey sequence is ridiculous, but these aspects aside, this is a fun action film for the whole family.
Harrison Ford is excellent as Jones once again, and isn't doing too badly for his age. The film is packed with well thought action sequences and the usual humor.
The supporting cast is excellent, as is the direction as it is shot in the same style as seen before in the other three films. Some people say the ending is too far fetched, but have we forgotton the other films? They were just the same!
I must see action movie!
The wrong script and at least ten years too late!
This film, when you think about it, is quite an achievement. It's been 19-years since Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, a film almost as good as Raiders of the Lost Ark which launched the Indy series. Whereas Raiders, Temple of Doom and the Last Crusade had direction and story, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull lurches unenergetically from one set piece to the next with little to link anything together and Harrison Ford looking embarrassed for much of the time. As a result, not only does the film fall flat on its face but it's almost painful to watch.
How did Speilberg and Lucas get it so dreadfully wrong? Surely they must have had at least one decent script for Indy 4 (I think Fate of Atlantis would have worked). What happened to it? Did they throw it away accidentally? Why did they wait for so long? Will they apologise for it?
Probably not, unfortunately, but on a more positive note at least this fourth instalment should (please God) be Indiana Jones and the Last Sequel.
Indiana Jones - A Review In Five Words.
'Oh screw you George Lucas.'
(Not content with ruining Star Wars, now he's ruined Indiana Jones too.)
